Will installing a Ride-Rite kit void my vehicle’s warranty?
In the United States, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a vehicle manufacturer or dealer cannot void your warranty simply because your vehicle has been modified with aftermarket parts. The FTC, which enforces the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, has stated that the use of an aftermarket part does not void your warranty; however, if the aftermarket part is defective or improperly installed and causes damage to another component that is covered under warranty, the manufacturer or dealer may deny coverage for that component. The “manufacturer or dealer must show that the aftermarket part caused the need for repairs before denying warranty coverage.” Click here for the full FTC consumer alert.
Make sure to read the installation manual prior to installation and consult a professional or contact our service reps if you have questions or concerns.
If you’ve spoken to the service manager and still feel your warranty claim is being unfairly denied, contact the automobile manufacturer or go to another dealer. You can also file a complaint with your state Attorney General, local consumer protection office or the FTC.
